Last weekend we were in Pittsburgh, PA for our friend’s son’s Bar Mitzvah (Mazel tov, Cooper!) and just as we were about to leave for the service, my daughter broke out into a rash on both arms after putting on the vintage Persian lamb coat I had packed for her to wear. It was mine, a cropped 1960’s black, 3/4 length sleeve jacket with mink collar and something about it irritated her skin almost instantly. Could have been the heat from rushing to get ready, combined with my In-Laws’ toasty warm house (her sensitive skin breaks out in hives when she is overheated, after every shower etc…) or could have been an allergy pertaining to the coat itself. My quick thinking Mother-In-Law gave her a vintage cashmere cardigan from her own closet to wear instead, adorned with tiny beaded flowers and pearl buttons. It was perfect, and she has since given it to my daughter to keep, passing it down, as her mom passed it down to her. Vintage is special, and more times than not, far superior than the construction and fabrics used today.

And though not vintage, but with a decidedly modern vintage vibe, this embroidered cardigan could be just the thing to remedy future wardrobe malfunctions and not only make an outfit, but save an outfit.
