I was doing laundry last night and took my daughter’s bathing suit, a white bikini with black polka dots, out of the wash to hang it to dry. I stood there for a second as it suddenly took me back to when I was 15 and my first bikini. My brother had taken me to the Norma Kamali boutique in Soho and told me to pick out any bathing suit I liked. I remember the shop being massive in size and somehow amidst all of the cut-outs and plunging necklines, I managed to find a white bikini with navy polka dots and a sweet ruffle trim. It had underwire, a modern touch at the time, and I thought it was the cutest thing I’d ever seen. Fast forward to today, where bikinis are no longer part of my repertoire, and I am constantly on the hunt for something I love even half as much as that navy and white bikini in a one-piece, not an easy task, until I saw these lovlies:

First Bikini
