For so many reasons, I feel very lucky. Some of the most important ones being family, friends, health and my luckiest charm, my daughter, born on St. Patrick’s Day. When I was in labor I tried to speed up her birth by eating spicy eggplant parmesan, then tried to slow it down in the hospital, all to avoid her birthday being one where people are vomiting green beer in the streets. But I have come to love our yearly tradition of having Lucky Charms for breakfast, decorating with clovers, shamrocks, rainbows and of course, wearing green. I always say my mom had a hand in the timing, a wink to her Irish Catholic background, ensuring the memory of the O’Leary side of our family is represented. So cheers to everyone celebrating, wearing their green and feeling lucky.
