Knitty Gritty
Knit and crochet pieces, from bags to dresses to chunky sweaters.
My husband gave me two crochet lessons for mother’s day at The Little Knittery in Los Feliz that I (finally) got around to scheduling. I made my lessons for the weekend before our big summer trip to Europe for my cousin Val’s wedding, envisioning that I would be crocheting all the way to Spain and have a cool summer frock to walk the cobblestone streets in or to throw on over my bathing suit while lunching al fresco by the sea. My crochet life came to a halt when I got laid off the friday before (due to the Hollywood strikes) and I spent my time with Kat crocheting and kvetching but mostly ripping out the same ten stitches. Needless to say I need more focused lessons but I did complete one oversized chunky granny square, above! Kat replaced my newly purchased thin chopstick-like needles with her crochet-for-dummies jumbo pair reserved for kids and well, let’s just say I suppose I could refashion this square into an oversized knit beanie. Or a large potholder. Now, if only I could make this bag:
Gucci crochet horsebit flap bag, $1356
Zimmermann Chinz Chevron Crochet top, $225 and fringe midi skirt, $417
Clare V. Knit Convertible Clutch, $330
Ulla Johnson Varisha Dress, $1250
Bottega Veneta crochet shoulder bag, $636
Eleven Six Allison Cardi $523.60 (on sale! and so cute belted)
Alice + Olivia knit cardigan, $185
Zara Cable Knit Coat, $109
Chanel cashmere knit extra mini bag, $6055
