Sometimes the universe tries to send you a message—mine came in the form of Mykhailo, my Uber driver. Though he spoke only Russian, his outfit did all of the talking, as he was dressed from head to toe in two different plaids (see below) just as I was editing my plaid wishlist for fall. And though we sat in traffic on the 101 instead of taking the side streets, I still gave him 5 stars, mostly for his outfit.
