Earning Your Stripes

My daughter’s school had an event last night showcasing innovation, with a science angle. There were reusable papertowels (immediately ordering on Amazon!) data about which sunscreen form (lotion, stick or spray) is most effective (stick) and a terrifying exposé on how using unfiltered water to water your garden results in god knows what. But much of the chatter revolved around the small groups of kids that had to collaborate on each project and how one person inevitably did not pull their weight. “How can she get the same grade as I did, it’s not fair!” Sadly, even as an adult, there always seems to be a weaker link, someone who didn’t upload anything into the shared file or write in the slack, but somehow still gets credit. So to make a tough lesson of earning your stripes easier, today is dedicated to wearing them.
