I used to tell my daughter to think about proportion when she got dressed. If you wear a fitted top, the bottom should be looser, wide leg, flowy and vice versa. Of course, this was in response to the Gen-Alpha teen uniform of oversized hoodie and floppy wide leg jeans that she’s been wearing since, well, it feels like forever. But I may backtrack my old mantra. Pablo Picasso is famously credited for saying, “Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” Not for nothing. Lately, all I want to wear is a big cozy sweater with wide leg pans. Big on big. Exaggerated barrel leg pants with an oversized cashmere turtleneck? Yes, Please. Wide leg pants that pool at my feet with my husband’s size XL sweatshirt? Yup. I am loving the ease, and polish of the look, without being too polished. Think The Row.
