Fruity Patooty
While I was standing at the register of Tailwaggers, our favorite neighborhood pet supply shop, paying for of all things, dog booties (think the canine version of Balenciaga’s sock bootie but for protection from the hot pavement and abundance of foxtails this year—3 of which had wreaked havock on our dog Raphael’s back paw) I noticed the cashier’s nails. They were a glossy, 3D textured fruit salad—each nail a different fruit. They were so summery and kitschy and immediately made me smile after a harrowing few days of emergency vet visits, antibiotics and Raphael’s clumsy cone-on-the-head navigation mishaps, like getting stuck in the dishwasher. Her nails (last photo below) had me wanting to wear something whimsical and well, fruity. Luckily, there’s a plethora of fruitwear to be had! And like the saying goes, an apple a day keeps the vet away.
